Annual Quranic Recitation Competition 

The annual Quranic Recitation Competition is a way to encourage our students not to only recite versus from the Quran by memory, but be able to understand what they are reciting or reading. This is why along with tajweed (pronunciation), students will be judged on ability to translate.

DATE: Sunday, February 16, 2025 

TIME: 10 AM - Zuhr Prayer  

Lower Level: Grades 1-4
Memorization of Selected Surahs with Meaning

Each student must ONLY recite the Surah that has been picked by the competition committee for that grade on the day of the competition. Therfore, students should prepare all 3 Surahs with meaning! Please use the Juz Amma for Arabic and meanings.

Upper Level: Grades 7-12
Memorization of Selected Surahs with Meaning

Each student must ONLY recite the Surah that has been picked by the competition committee for that grade on the day of the competition. Therfore, students should prepare all 3 Surahs with meaning! Please use the Juz Amma or click the given PDF given below for the Arabic and translation.

Judging Criteria

The judges will use the following criteria:

  • Pronunciation

  • Tajweed/Rules of Tajweed

  • Fluency/Reciting Clearly

  • Meaning/Translation

The results of the judges will be final and cannot be challenged!

Students will also be given participation points based on their completion scores (max 10 points) added to their overall academic grade.
